The mother/daughter duo run Annieglass, a well-loved line of handcrafted glass dinnerware, gifts and sculpture noted for the beauty and durability of the 24kt gold or platinum designs. Their factory on California’s Monterey Bay produces over 60,000 pieces of Annieglass annually. Two pieces from the Annieglass Shell Series were chosen as part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The company was founded in 1983 when Annie found herself in need of a job after graduating from art school. Her story of building a non-traditional artisanal business that requires the skills of designer, engineer, scientist, marketer and manufacturer is fascinating.
Like the stores they are visiting, the founders are also women.
