Alfaro Winery

Richard and Mary Kay Alfaro started their vineyards and winery in 1997 when they acquired an aging apple farm south of Santa Cruz in Corralitos, Ca which is a short distance from the Annieglass factory. Their wines have been featured in our Craftbar. I highly recommend visiting them along the Corralitos Wine Trail.

The back story is really interesting, the couple worked with my sister-in-law Patti Reinhold at The Summerland Omelete Parlor in the '80s. They moved up to Santa Cruz and I got to know them originally when Patti would visit and bring me along to their bakery business- Alfaro's Micro Bakery- that started in the downtown Metro Center in Santa Cruz. The whole town was proud of their success when they sold it to Sara Lee in 1998 and Richard was V.P. and general manager of Sara Lee Fresh bakery division until 2002.

The Alfaro Family Vineyards & Winery has 56 acres currently under vine. Their son Ryan has joined them after graduating from the University of Auckland, New Zealand in viticulture.

Check out a tasting on their patio some Saturday after a visit to our factory store. Bring a picnic and make it even more fun and glam with Annieglass.

Alfaro Family Vineyards & Winery includes estate grown and bottled Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah and unique Gruner Veltliner reflect the unique terrior of the Santa Cruz Mountains appellation.
