Annie's Story

Annie Morhauser founded Annieglass in
1983 and it has been family owned and
operated ever since. The documentary
"Resilience" dives deep into her family,
history, and inspiration.

Since 1963 Annie has been hand crafting glass in her family owned and operated warehouse.

1977

Annie's passion for glass

Annie fell in love with the art of glassmaking under a full moon in Davenport, CA in 1977. She learned how to low glass while attending UCSC studying art and dance. Blowing glass felt like the perfect combination of the two and she was hooked.

1983

The start of Annieglass

Annie started Annieglass in officially in 1983 with a self-funded kiln after developing her signature "slumping" technique for creating glass tableware. This was also the year she created the first ever Roman Antique plate which would become her signature.

1994

The first storefront

Annie opened her first Annieglass storefront in 1994 in downtown Santa Cruz. This is where her famous trunk shows happened and people would line up for blocks to get deals on seconds around the holidays.

1996

Watsonville warehouse

Annie purchases the Watsonville Warehouse in 1996 to be used as Annieglass's office, factory and retail outlet store.

2017

Wine & Craft Bar opens

Wine and craft bar opened at Watsonville warehouse so the community can now caft, wine taste, and enjoy being surrounded by beautiful glass pieces.

2025

Warehouse get solar

Annieglass converted its Watsonville studio to solar power, which provides significant funding and generates a substantial amount of energy to operate the studio's ovens.

Always innovating

Twice a year, Annie introduces new collections and extensions to existing ones. Her design process is ongoing, experimenting in new ways with materialls and technologies, often blending time-honored handcraft with modern innovations, or inventing her own methods to create the eauty of Annieglass alongside her talented team of artisans.
