First Mother's Day

This year we are highlighting new moms for our Mother's Day blog. I cannot think of a more qualified group of moms to praise. Some of them are still recovering from pregnancy and birth, all of them sleep deprived on their first Mother's Day.

I just happen to know a group of young mothers when they were a group of young brides registering for Annieglass here in our studio a few years back. Justine's family were my neighbors at the Old Sash Mill and I have known her since she was born. Her best friend Reje was a featured bride on our website along with her artist groom, Biagio, who just happens to be our production manager. 

Biagio also acts as a bartender when this group of moms gets together.  We were able to get his recipe for their favorite drink called John Daly- it’s an Arnold Palmer (iced tea and lemonade) with vodka but feel free to try rum or get creative... iced tea and pineapple juice, iced tea, and ginger beer/ale/shrub.

My first child was born the weekend after Mother's Day, so I had to wait a year to celebrate. My second child was born in February two and a half years later. My absolute fondest memory is being woken by the 2 of them with breakfast in bed. It was a bowl of milk with 2 soggy Cheerios floating in it. They "made" it themselves. Their proud and loving faces melted my heart. I have to say it was the best meal ever with all that love coming through their smiles and kisses.  

Wishing you all the very best Mother's Day to everyone who nurtures and supports you, mothers or not. Let's not forget the other family members and those single Dads too.
